Room Transfer Request

To submit a room transfer request, please email housing@asu.edu. Please include your ASU ID number, current hall and room assignment, and desired hall and room assignment. It is also helpful to provide a brief reason for the request.

If this is an emergency and you feel that your safety is at risk, please go directly to your Community Director/Community Manager or Assistant Community Director to discuss your situation.

What do I need to know about transfers before I submit a transfer request?

  • Submitting a request does not guarantee that your housing assignment will be changed.
  • Residential College living requirements may void a request for a hall transfer.
  • All transfer requests are subject to approval by Professional Hall Staff.
  • Review rates for requested accommodations as your housing bill may be adjusted by changing halls or room types.
  • If able, University Housing will only contact you once (by email to your ASU email account) to try to accommodate your request to move. If you do not respond by the end of the next business day, your request will be voided and you will need to submit again to be placed at the end of the list.
  • Submission of this request form is binding. If you agree to and are authorized for a transfer, you agree to abide by the following rules:
    • If we are able to meet one of your choices, you will be required to move within 24 hours. Failure to move may result in a penalty charged to your student account.
    • If you begin moving and do not complete your move within 48 hours of signing your contract, the items in your old room may be considered trash and discarded. You may be charged an improper checkout fee plus cleaning fees.

What are the University Housing policies regarding transfers?

  • Upper-class students may not transfer into a first-year space, and vice versa.
  • If you are discovered living in a room other than the one for which you have signed a License Agreement, you will be charged an administrative fee and will be required to return to your assigned room.
  • To ensure fairness to all residents in the Room Selection process, all hall/room transfer requests for academic year spaces are processed in accordance with the rules and regulations established by University Housing.
  • There will be no room transfers performed between December 14 and January 11 or after March 15.
