Future Residents

New world, new home – a total experience

Welcome to University Housing at Arizona State University. Student life at ASU is a dynamic experience. Outside of the classroom, ASU students participate in career-focused internships, conduct research, engage in community service opportunities, attend lectures and performance, and participate in more than 1000 student clubs and organizations.

As an ASU residential student, you will have many opportunities to connect to academic resources, programs and events tailored to your personal development and educational interests to help you make the most of your first year as a Sun Devil.

ASU expects first-time freshmen to live on campus in the residential college of his or her major and guarantees housing to all first time freshmen. Students who intend to live elsewhere during their first year should notify University Housing, so we can connect you to valuable resources and support for your first year.

To apply to live on campus, or to notify us that you will be living elsewhere, please log in to the My Housing Portal to complete your housing intention.

The residential college experience

ASU’s student housing is composed of Residential Colleges that place students with classmates from the same college and/or major. Residential Colleges at ASU are supportive, close-knit communities designed to help you succeed at the university by providing additional opportunities to connect with faculty and staff and engage in meaningful co-curricular experiences.

Our professional and student staff play a vital role in developing and maintaining an atmosphere that promotes academic and personal success. Residential College staff include professional live-in staff and student leaders, such as community assistants and peer mentors, who support residents with their transition to university life.

What's next?

Applying for housing is completed in two phases.  Once you access the My Housing portal, the first phase is to complete your housing application.  The second phase gives you access to our roommate finder tool and allows you to self-select the room of your preference.  During the second phase, you will also be selecting your meal plan. Meal plans are required for all freshmen and some upper class communities.  Through our system you will be asked to review and agree to the terms of our License Agreement for the full academic year. Please make sure you carefully read this document.

Housing and dining process

Once you are admitted to ASU and have completed your enrollment deposit, housing options will be presented to you based on your campus and academic major for the full academic year. Take a moment to explore the residential colleges and your housing and dining options.

You should review your options as soon as you have paid your enrollment deposit to improve your chances of receiving your living and dining preferences. Our schedule of charges and deadlines will make sure you don't miss an important deadline or step in the housing process.

The staff in University Housing can answer all of your questions about the housing process.
